sawara cypress kakuburo – sold out –

sorry, sold out!
IMGP0262
As simple as mentioned in the title, this is a rare example of box-shaped ofuro made with sawara cypress.

We had a batch of wide planks sawara wood and felt it is a waste splitting them and using as material for barrel type tubs (which require narrower planks).

Because we do not have examples of rectangular ofuros made with this material (and therefore no requests), the only way for us to use this beautiful lumber was to make an outlet tub. And here it is!

The tub is very deep and even people with a large body can lay inside with the hot water up to the shoulders…!

Sawara has a nice cherrywood like orangeish color and is very aromatic. So for those who think that hinoki is too “pale”… this is an unmissable occasion! And the price is very reasonable too!

half-kamachi outlet tub – sold out –

sorry, sold out!
IMGP9723

Asnaro is very aromatic and its “forest scent” perfectly matches the spring-time atmosphere.
We had just the right lot so we decided to make a new outlet tub.
This tub is not only new, it has a new design – and I am sure it will become a classic!
It did not happen on the design table, it was just when we were picking up the material to laminate the sides we noticed we were just a little short. Of course we could re-assort the planks to compose a different size but playing with the lumber that was there we had an inspiration.

I am almost sure that the asnaro aroma kind of made this idea sprung from Nobuhiro`s mind.

He said: why don`t we apply a kamachi (top frame border) only on the short sides?
This makes the corners flush when you look at it from the top, additionally it makes it easy to lift the tub (like a handle) from the head and feet side.

From now on, I will call it “half-kamachi detail” until I come up with a better term.

This springy, fresh design outlet tub is made with straight grain asnaro-hiba.
Details as here below:
L1150mm x W750mm x H675mm (external dimensions) 580mm(depth) knotless natural Asnaro wood bathtub.

1) AB grade tub (quatersawn) : 410,000. JPY
2) Packaging: 135x95x88cm plywood box: 36,000. JPY
3) transportation: to be quoted (please let us know your exact address: we will provide a quotation before you purchase the tub)
Please check the drawing here for the detailed dimensions: outlet170421

IMGP9725
This tub does not have a “back side”. It has the copper apron on both sides so we can apply the iron brand on whichever side – if you want. About the short side, you can see what I was meaning by saying that the “half-kamachi” can be used as a handle to grab and lift the tub.

IMGP9726
The immaculate interior of the tub!

IMGP9727
And this is the “half -kamachi” seen from the top. It makes the forner look flush (L-shaped)

If you like this tub, I recommend to contact us soon. I am sure it will not last!

3 hinoki tubs (one by one) – all sold out –

sorry, sold out!

IMGP8917h

A B2B client just ordered these 3 stunning hinoki tubs.
But just while we were doing the last finishing touches, the client contacted us saying that they are changing the layout and will need larger tubs (1800 x 1200mm)

So they asked us to put the tubs in the outlet corner on their behalf.
The price was already very competitive as this was a three units order… on top of this the client is willing to offer a huge discount! Please scroll the post to the bottom to see the details.

You are not familiar with “B-grade”? It stands for wood with small knots. About aroma or durability there is no difference with Hinoki AB grade. The main difference is aesthetic. See some pictures here below.

outlet round tub – sold out!

sorry, sold out!

This gorgeous barrel type tub was ordered by an architecture office.
Apparently the project was modified and they will have to reorder another tub with different dimensions.
For this reason, the client asked me to place the tub in the outlet corner at a discounted price. The tub is brand new, unused and ready for shipment!

The price is 450,000 JPY including the plywood box used for the freight.
Shipment cost is excluded and depends on the location.
Indicatively, air shipment to europe will be around 160,000 JPY.

But let`s go back to this very stilish yet primitive and powerful barrel type tub.
Here are the specs:
material: japanese Knotless hinoki wood round shape bathtub
sizes: diam 900mm x H740mm (int. depth 630mm)
details: stainless steel band. Iron brand at front center

The iron brand will be applied before shipment as the combined effect of the “burn” of the iron brand and the concentrated hinoki aromatic atmosphere inside the cellophane wrap may cause the wood around the brand to blur.

* sizes: L1350mm x W750mm x H675mm (external dimensions) 570mm(depth)

Of course the tub is brand new and after taking the pictures it has been wrapped in clear polyethylene sheet.

perfumed asnaro from the attic – outled tub (sold out!)

sorry, sold out!

A grumpy elder lumberyard of our network, finally decided to part from a vintage lot of asnaro wood he is guarding for some 30 years.
The wood is perfectly dry so there is no worry of cracking.
The cut is a plank cut, which is rare for asnaro. Plank cut shows well the pattern of the wood veins and probably it was originally sawn to make tables or maybe even “tokonoma” (the floor plank used in the niche of a tatami room which is used to display flowers or precious ornaments)

To use fully the planks width we built a tub some 90mm deeper than the average.

Here are the details:
size: L1300mm x W750mm x H685mm (external dimensions) 590mm(depth)
quality: itame (plank-cut) asnaro wood

  1. AB grade tub (itame cut) : 415,000. JPY
  2. Packaging: 1500x950x890 plywood box: 39,000. JPY
  3. Pick up and delivery to Tokyo port or Narita air port: 10,000 JPY

For the payment, we accept Credit cards thru PAYPAL or contact us for wire transfer the information to our bank account in Japan.

Click here: (outlet130620.pdf) to download it in acrobat format.

The wood itself is vintage, dry and aromatic.
We recommend to enjoy it with a 1997 Harlan Estate Bordeaux bottle and 2 glasses…
