About 3 years ago, we received an information request from a swiss gentleman.
He was designing his home and supplied us beautiful drawings and renderings of a japanese style bathroom.
Than, last year we received the request for a quotation of an alternative shape.
Finally, this summer we provided a quotation for this barrel type ofuro … and it was love at first sight! A kadomaru tub offers the original japanese bath experience with an excellent cost-performance balance.
Kadomaru type, sawara wood tub AB grade (knotless)
Dimensions are: L930mm x W630mm x H740 mm (ext. dim.) 640mm (deep)
The tub is equipped with cover in 2 halves
The tub is compact and light, so we could use a reinforced cardboard to package it to reduce the boxing cost and shipping weight.
I am sure the ofuro found a loving host family and that the story had a happy-end!

2) Additional cost of overflow top cut : 9,000. JPY
3) Packaging: 103x73x84cm reinforced cardboard box (Trri-Wall): 17,000. JPY
4) Bank transfer fee: 6,500. JPY
5) Air freight to USA door: 124,000. JPY
Total: 391,500. JPY (about 3,700. USD)
Expiry: valid until 15 Mar. 2020. (by reason of fuel surcharge mainly)
Notes:
*If the tub is delivered to the West Coast, there is a saving of 12,000. JPY
** delivery is done with normal truck and delivered in front of the
site. 1 or 2 people from the site (your construction company?) should help
to lift the tub and unload it from the truck. (The gross weight is about 40
Kg.)
** Quote is DAP, which means that you will have to pay duties, import
taxes and eventual inspection fees. (Custom clearance fee is included.)
***We export wooden tubs with the following customs HS code: 4416.00
****update feb/2020: for exports to the USA the client has to support their
International Revenue No. (IRS) or Social Security No. (SSN). Also there are
other paperwork (mainly contacting the name/address of the client)
which needs to be submitted at the time of custom clearance (Lacey act)
