Cabana in Hong Kong

Repulse Bay is listed as one of the top 5 unmissable spots when you visit Hong Kong.
Of course when you go to Repulse Bay you should not miss the restaurant “the Ocean” and the adjoining champagne bar “Cabana”.
And, when you go to Cabana, you simply cannot miss the sawara bathtubs because this is what you do when you go there: you grab your bottle of champagne and enjoy it while soaking in the hot, aromatic water and enjoying the view of the bay.

For the technical specs you can visit this page: https://bartokdesign.com/7-custom_tubs/8-tubs-on-the-roof.php

And here below is a gallery of some photos of the club “Cabana” and the Bartok tubs. Enjoy!

koyamaki tubs for singapore

We produced 3 tubs for a spa in Singapore.

As we did not have stock of hinoki (it takes at least 2 months to natural dry the lumber) we proposed to use koyamaki wood.
Koyamaki is the most prized of the “5 trees of the kiso valley” (koyamaki, hinoki, asnaro, sawara, nezuko) and is even more rot-resistant (and more expensive) than hinoki.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sciadopitys

In this case, we used Koyamaki-B grade, with small knots on both sides. Koyamaki is more knotty than hinoki, thus a knotless koyamaki tub really becomes a premium item.

I did not have time to take the photos in advance since time is tight and the tubs are being packaged.

IMGP9085

We are placing the accessories inside to contain the shipping volume as much as possible.

IMGP9086

The tubs will be equipped with ledge mounted spouts.

I am looking forward to see the tubs installed and of course … to rush to Singapore for a relaxing and aromatic plunge!

Here are the specs for the tubs:

8 tubs on the roof

Well, there are some moments in life that make you feel proud.
I could not contain my emotions when I saw the pictures of the tubs on the roof top overlooking the ocean…

The carpenters went on site to verify that the tubs were installed properly and that the maintenance instructions were implemented correctly.
Too bad I could not make it… but I will definitely go when the project is 100% completed to enjoy the view … and the hot water!

Each tub is comfortable for 6 people.
Material: japanese knotless sawara wood.
Size: Dia 2000mm x H730mm (600mm deep)
Option: internal seat

Each tub is equipped with a step-bench in asnaro wood W600 D320 H300mm
and a floor mounted Spout in asnaro wood (E type)
